Thermore has launched Ecodown Fibers T2T, a new insulation material that converts recycled polyester textile waste into high-performance thermal insulation.

The product is made from 100% recycled polyester, combining 80% post-industrial textile waste with 20% post-consumer PET bottles. Thermore says the material is designed to retain softness, loft and warmth while resisting clumping.

A Step Towards Textile-to-Textile Recycling

The launch highlights the growing focus on textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling, where textile waste is recovered and transformed into new textile applications rather than being discarded or downcycled.

Ecodown Fibers T2T is GRS certified and also carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and bluesign certifications. The insulation can be blown into baffles, placed inside panels or hand-stuffed, giving apparel manufacturers flexibility in product design.

The wider textile industry is also investing more attention in T2T recycling, although challenges such as blended fabrics, recycling infrastructure and scalability remain.
